Scopify

Turning a four-hour quoting process into a three-minute product.

Scopify is our own product. After years of pricing web projects in spreadsheets, we built the tool we wanted: pick a project type, answer a few questions, and walk away with a line-itemed quote, a scope of work and a branded proposal, generated together and always in agreement.

The brief

Quoting was the slowest part of winning work.

Agencies and freelancers lose hours on every proposal. The price is built in one spreadsheet, the scope is written in a separate document, and the proposal is assembled in a third. By the time they're done, the three rarely say quite the same thing.

The goal was a product that turns a client brief into a price you can defend and a document you're proud to send, fast enough to finish before the discovery call ends. Because it would be sold as a subscription, it also needed proper accounts, plans and billing from day one.

What it had to do

  1. 01Stop rebuilding prices from scratch for every project.
  2. 02Stop under-quoting because QA, content migration or revisions were forgotten.
  3. 03Keep the scope of work in step with the price.
  4. 04Let everyone on a team quote from the same starting point.
  5. 05Produce proposals that look like part of the product, not an afterthought.

What we built

A pricing engine with a product around it.

The heart of Scopify is the engine that turns choices into numbers. Everything else exists to make that engine fast to use and easy to trust.

01

The engine

  • Configurable modules

Projects are assembled from modules and line items, each priced by scope, hours and rate, so every figure on a quote can be explained.

  • Dependency-aware pricing

Choosing one part of a project brings in the work it depends on, which is how forgotten tasks stop slipping through.

  • Presets and rate cards

Reusable templates and rates, so a whole team quotes from the same starting point.

02

The product

  • Quote, scope and proposal in one pass

The scope of work and the proposal are generated from the same line items as the price, so they can't fall out of sync.

  • Branded PDF export

Client-ready proposals with your own branding, with white-label exports on the top plan.

  • Accounts and subscriptions

Sign-up, a free plan and paid tiers with trials, so the product can be sold and grown without manual admin.

How it works

From brief to proposal in one flow.

A short guided flow collects what the engine needs, then every document is produced from a single set of line items.

Quoting a website redesign

  1. Step 1

    Pick a project type

Start from a website redesign rather than a blank page.

  2. Step 2

    Answer a few questions

Pages, features and content. The engine prices each choice as you go.

  3. Step 3

    Check the numbers

Every line shows its scope, hours and rate, so there's an answer ready when a client pushes back.

  4. Step 4

    Send something polished

Export a branded proposal and scope of work, generated from the same line items as the price.

Outcomes

What it changes.

The difference between quoting by spreadsheet and quoting with Scopify.

  • 4h → 3minaverage time to produce a quote

What used to be an afternoon of spreadsheets and documents now takes minutes.

  • 1source for price, scope and proposal

Three documents generated from the same line items can't contradict each other.

  • Everyline item explained

Each figure is broken down by scope, hours and rate, which makes the price far easier to defend.

Under the hood

The decisions you don't see.

Pricing logic in one place

All the rules that turn answers into numbers live in a single engine, so a change to how something is priced applies everywhere at once.

Built to be sold

Accounts, plans, trials and billing were designed in from the start rather than bolted on, which is what turns a tool into a product.

Built by people who did the job

Scopify came out of years of quoting agency work by hand. Knowing exactly where the time went is what shaped the product.
